painted Shaker wardrobe refurb….. in birch ply, of courseProject by Tim Germainmy client originally wanted to rip out these wardrobes and start afresh but i pointed out that would necessitate re-plastering the ceiling and walls and that, actually, the original frame of these wardrobes was a good quality hardwood one (probably from the 1950s) that had been re-hashed with chipboard doors (probably in the 80s). So for a fraction of the cost, i replaced the old doors with painted Shaker doors, turned the small, pretty useless central cupboards into two sets of drawers with swoosh runners and re-jigged the interior hanging space………… because it offends me to rip out something perfectly functional when a refurb is a much more eco-friendly option.
