school story-telling chair…… and then some

Project by Tim Germain

sweet chestnut story-telling chair
the seat back lifts up and locks open, showing off the floral pattern designed by the kids in some great, messy art workshops. this multi-functionality both protects the pattern from weathering (and vandalism) and gives the chair greater use as a mini-stage or work-table.

the sweet chestnut used was sourced from a local country park and some of the kids came to help choose it

when the seat is lowered and locked, it becomes a mini-stage or, alternatively, a work table with the honeycomb pattern being used with accompanying tesselating, blackboard-painted tiles to teach maths.
