chest of drawers in holm oak and oak veneered birch ply

the drawer fronts and top of this four-drawer chest are made of holm oak, supplied by Greenways nature volunteers and needs-must felled in the parks of ipswich, making it incredibly environmentally friendly.

the carcase is made of oak veneered birch ply to allow the use of modern swoosh drawer runners- because the piece is 4′ wide, i used the super heavy duty versions

holm oak is an invasive mediterranean species not much used in the UK…… despite the fact that it is 50% harder than english oak and the grain is spectacular

the matt bronze handles ensure the drawers are pulled centrally to ensure longevity of the runners
