the bench, designed in collaboration with local schoolchildren, sits in the meanwhile space outside the Firstsite Gallery in Colchester as part of a project led by MATT+FIONA – the trellis will soon be covered in climbing plants. The metalwork was all custom made by the excellent Sharp Metalworks.the picnic table incorporates seats at different heights and is designed to encourage interaction between sittersthe bench and table are both made of local storm-felled oak from the parks of Ipswich supplied by the wonderful volunteers of the Greenways Countryside Projectthe tables length and unusual shape allow for use by more than one group at a time
