pair of sofa tables in scottish elm à la Tim Stead
Project by Tim Germain
Year: 2025
Cost: £4,000
one of a pair of low-ish sofa tables for my wonderful local pubinspired by the furniture of Tim Stead but with a few flourishes of my owna natural hollow in the elm is filled with a marble and plugged with a champagne corkthe abyss in the top is bridged so that glasses and plates can safely be placed……. and before you ask why i didn’t use resin, let me point out that resin looks great for a year or two but then the differential shrinkage of the resin compared to the elm plus the degrading of the resin itself mean it won’t last. Well, you did ask……I aim to make furniture that lasts a few centuries, and not a few short years.
