to enable easy access for diners and drinkers to this existing booth, I made a tripod base which would not get in the way of legsthe waney-edged elm top is left raw on the room-side as no-one can sit there thanks to a stepthe tripod base requires a complex, hand-cut, triple-lap joint for strength…. and is reinforced with a custom-made 6mm thick steel plate to ensure it will last for centuriesthe gaping chasms in the natural elm top are bridged with elm “lollipop sticks” to avoid upsetting drinks (inspired by Tim Stead)
